We had a really wonderful holiday in Pigeonniere Grande which was a magical place to stay and explore the region. With medieval Martel just a short drive away, superb swimming and kayaking on the Dordogne (and in the pool at the house1), and a host of les plus beaux villages de France within 30 minutes, I would recommend it to any family looking for a break in the countryside.

The old horse that roamed free, babhou the sweet cat and Brigitte and Alain are very sweet and have good tips.

We had a wonderful holiday, hopefully you can post a review below on your website.
What a beautiful gite, Pigeonniere Grande. More beautiful than in the photos and basically everything is there. Wonderfully quiet, very friendly French owners, which do not bother you and a beautiful view and space at the house. And then there is also a horse walking through your garden, great.
Even our teenagers aged 14 and 17 had a great time, with badminton and the table tennis table, which is there ????. And of course the lovely saltwater pool, quiet, almost private and a beautiful view.
The bakery in Martel is about 5 to 10 minutes by car, where there is also a good supermarket Intermarché. Martel is a nice village, with many nice and good restaurants
There is a lot to do in the area, nice villages, caves, canoeing on the Dordogne or looking for a lovely spot by the river, at a rapids during the very hot days, super cool.
What was a downside for us are the beds, they are really very narrow and short (note from FV: we will include this in the evaluation!). And for outside a few nice chairs where you can read a book. Now there are some kind of beach chairs, these are not really comfortable.
We definitely recommend the gite.
