Villa Saint Cirque

A beautiful and huge holidayhouse (max 6 adults with 2 children) with a very large private pool, situated in a peaceful woodland setting, Only 1 mile away from a small village with its 3 restaurants, boulangerie and epicerie. The house and its pool are full south-facing with views across the river valley. It offers all the benefits of recent construction, with excellent well-lit and voluminous spaces, together with the character of carefully-selected traditional materials. All of the ground floor rooms have French doors which lead directly to the terrace around the pool.

Ground floor

The hallway has a cloakroom with a stone hand basin and an adjacent WC. Dining room, well equipped kitchen, living room with comfortable sofas and easy chairs and an impressive brick-built open fire for romantic evenings... ! Master-bedroom (stays cool in summer) with en-suite bathroom and queen size bed.  “Snug” with sofa-bed to have a quiet read/snooze or sleeping space for a child/baby.

First floor

Mezzanine (closed with sliding doors)- this large area is accessed via a traditional rustic oak staircase; this space has a sofa-bed and easy chair – it can provide another bedroom area, play space for the children or simply another living area. Two more bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with twin/double bed. Bathroom - with bath/shower and a separate WC. The upstairs bedrooms have airconditioning.

Outside

Large partly covered dining terrace, with its ample table and chairs and barbecue to one side, it is the perfect spot to enjoy those “en-plein-air” meals (a good Cahors wine to go with) next to the pool. The 10 x 5 m pool and its surrounding terrace, being full south facing, is an absolute sun trap. For some shade, or a tranquil game of pétanque, try the front courtyard, or, for the more energetic, some table tennis in the traditionally-styled open hangar with its massive oak beams to the side of the house; the hangar also offers covered parking for 2 cars.

The house which has a gated entrance to the courtyard, is set within a ¾ acre site of a mixture of field and woodland and lies at the end of a lane leading up to the village.

(07-2024) Dear Lydia and Thijs,

What a surprise in the mail today! How nice that you appreciate feedback and also "reward" it with such a nice package of wine.

We had fantastic weeks in the house de Lot. Our grandchildren have not stopped talking about the house, the swimming pool! and the fun activities they did with dad, mom and grandpa. I enjoyed reading, swam 1 km a day in the large swimming pool and enjoyed the increasingly brown faces.

We would like to leave positive feedback on your website and are very much looking forward to the house in Crete. We do not have any flights yet, I think that will be September with the companies.

Once again, thank you very much for the wine and we will "talk" to each other again via email.

Kind regards,

Bart & Cora

(06-2024) Dear Sir/Madam

Thanks for your message. We enjoyed our holiday very much. A beautiful, beautifully situated and well-equipped villa with stunning views and a spacious swimming pool. Comfortable and very spacious during the one week we were there with six people. Beautiful surroundings too. Furthermore, the entire process from start (booking) to settlement via France Villa went well. We certainly took some nice pictures of the house. Perhaps not a prize winner, but we will send it.

Yours sincerely,
Annemarie and Rudi

(10-2023) Good morning,

This vacation was amazing! What a pleasure! It was full of charm, calm, among the trees, close to one of the most beautiful villages in France. It was refreshing and very pleasant.

Could be a bit big for just 2 people, even without using the upstairs haha. It makes you want to share with family or friends. The (gigantic) cool swimming pool (we had between 18 and 22 degrees depending on the weather - late September early October) was used every day.

A few small finishes could be improved but this in no way hampered our vacation (a few burnt out light bulbs, a few switches that didn't hold very well, the walk-in shower... Raised by 1cm, the bed on the ground floor which creaks a lot and other small details).

If we didn't miss our vacation, unfortunately the tiger mosquitoes didn't miss us either.
France Villa will still be our favorite site for our next vacation.

(06-2023) Good afternoon Lydia and Thijs,

The holiday went very pleasantly. Beautiful house with a magnificent view over the valley and lots of privacy. Everything you need is available in the house.

(05-2023) Dear Thijs and Lydia,

We have booked the house Saint Cirque through you for 2 weeks in May 2023. The France-Villa website, the booking procedure, the financial settlement and your response times are more than fine. Much appreciated was the welcome gift, which we immediately made “soldier”. Thanks for that.

The house itself is difficult to photograph, as we have experienced ourselves, but in reality it is larger and more beautiful than in the photos. We let our dog out 4 times a day and then it was a bit of a challenge on the slopes around the house.

The view is great and everything you can think of is present in the house. The inventory of the house is more than complete, but therefore a bit messy. Twice a week pool maintenance made sure it was very clean.

We used the key box both on arrival and departure and that is a nice relaxed way of handing over the keys. The local bakery and supermarket are a bit on the expensive side, but you can also drive on to Cahors, where Lidl has much cheaper prices.

We are already looking at your website for a holiday in September.

(09-2022) Good evening, Lydia,

The holiday home saint Cirque was everything and more than we were expecting. The house itself was exceptional with great accommodation and facilities, the pool and views far exceeded what we had expected from the photos and description.

We were meet at the property by Antoine, he was great giving us all necessary information on the property along with very helpful information on local villages, shops and things to do while staying at Saint Cirque. Antoine also returned on our last day to make sure everything had been okay and let us know how to leave the property. The pool was cleaned on Saturday and Wednesday morning .

Saint Cirque a is situated in a lovely location within walking distance to the small village and shops. Saint Cirq Lapopie the historic hilltop village is approximately 10 minutes drive , where you will find many shops, restaurants and artists Galleries. Cahours a larger town is around a 45-minute drive away where You'll find larger shops and retail outlets .

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Saint Cirque and would recommend this property to anyone that wished to enjoy this area of France.

Many thanks
Paul & Carol

Very nice house in a beautiful setting. Pool was lovely especially with the warm weather (36-40 degrees). Downstairs it stayed nice and cool if you kept all doors and windows closed during the day. Upstairs it got really hot, air conditioning would be fantastic there. That's really the only downside! Otherwise a fantastic house with a great view and a lovely pool, a perfect stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house has everything we will need for a successful vacation. The view is magnificent and the swimming pool gives refreshment when it is too hot. THE region is also very beautiful, with the two valleys. It was a real pleasure.

(06-2022) Hi Lydia,

It was (again) a top address of FranceVilla. After a warm welcome we were introduced to a house that was perfect for a 14 day holiday.

Sufficient space, fully equipped, clean with a lovely terrace and a great swimming pool. You can take lovely walks in the area and even bathe your dog in the Lot or Célé. And of course there are plenty of markets. I am happy to give you two more tips. The restaurant Les Sens in Puylaroque is highly recommended. It is a 45 minute drive but you can enjoy a delicious dinner there. Since there are few cities in the vicinity, I recommend taking a day trip to Toulouse (1.5 hours drive). It is definitely worth it: a nice, lively city for squares, terraces, beautiful boutiques...

(06-2022) Dear Lydia,

We enjoyed our 3 weeks stay in the house Saint Lapopie - Carival, Tout-de-Faurre.

The house was very neat and all the trimmings what you can expect from a good holiday home.

We were well received by the owners as Mr Antoin Drion was not available during that weekend. We did meet him a few times after that. A very pleasant person.

The pool was newly constructed and well cared for. Just like the terrace, which is large and where it was pleasant to stay.

Unfortunately, we had to endure a huge heat wave for more than a week, with temperatures above 40°C (more than 44°C in the shade for a few days).

Thanks to the thick walls and good insulation, it was limited to 26 °C indoors. But with such temperatures, where nothing can be done about it, it is not possible to stay outside. Let alone take beautiful trips.

So unfortunately we were not able to take many trips. A pity because it is a very beautiful region with many sights.

The village of Saint Circq Lapopie is really worth a visit and there are good restaurants, which are currently (June) almost all only open at noon.

This is due to the lack of staff in the hospitality industry. A phenomenon that applies in various places in France and Belgium, as a result of the Corona period where the catering industry had to close.

So overall very good and worth the money. Even now we were only 2 people for a gite that can handle up to 10 people.

We will certainly call on your services again for renting a good and beautiful gite.

Sincerely, Bernard

(09-2020) Dear Lydia,

Apologies for our late response. Back in the Netherlands we (unfortunately) quickly ended up in the busy everyday mode and the feeling of French life has fallen behind. But what a wonderful time we had !!

The house exceeded our expectations; all four of us agreed that the house, especially inside, is in reality much more beautiful than the photos suggest. The materials that have been used and the fact that the house is still so new inside is not reflected in the photos on your website. There it even looks like an authentic old house.

The space in the house is enormous and there was really nothing missing from the furniture; fantastic!
A small point; in the description you mention a Nespresso coffee machine, but we could not find it. Fortunately there was a "normal" coffee machine!

The receipt and further settlement on location, the information and communication with your company in advance can be described as perfect in one word.

We include this photo because (despite the flip-flops next to the chair) we felt that we were able to capture the sun at the end of the afternoon so beautifully here.

We got your organization tipped off by Mr. C. Jabor / Mr. We also thanked De Bruijne and them very much. Of course we would also like to thank you for the good care regarding our reservation and the good arrangement regarding the current Covid 19 situation. You will certainly see us again somewhere in this region.

Kind regards,

Hello we were delighted with our stay. We fell in the heatwave week and admittedly the air conditioning in the upstairs bedrooms would have been welcome. We took pictures of the house with a drone and a video with the view. Superb.

(08-2017) Hello Lydia, hello Thijs,

We had a great holiday in the Lot, and I will repeat below what we were able to specify in the "guestbook" of the house.

"Saint Cirque is a big house, where we found everything we needed:
- a calm and relaxing environment
- a beautiful terrace and a very large well maintained pool
- it is a very cool house, very appreciable during the hot weather
- the equipment of the house was complete: dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, barbecue, kitchen utensils, furniture, ...
- and finally, we really appreciated the warm welcome of Mr. Neil, his availability and his advice "

So I wanted to thank you again for these beautiful holidays in the South West and more specifically in the Lot,

I wish you a very nice day,

and see you soon!

Thérèse for the D. family

(09-2017) Hello,

great stay, everything was perfect. Thank you!

Sincerely, Adrianna Z.

(07-2015)
Good evening,

everything went very well and the house is very beautiful and very pleasant to live and well equipped, maybe also because we had very good weather and we walked a lot ... But the breakfasts and the dinner on the terrace was very nice.

Neil's welcome was very ... British, and very friendly.

Maybe next time,

Regards,

B.

(06-2014)
Hello Mrs. Mennes,

Do not worry, the weather was perfect with only 1 rainy day, so we took the opportunity to see producers of regional products. This house is really beautiful and the environment splendid! We were able to rest and enjoy the benefits of the pool! Our daughter was also delighted. The person who greeted us was also very friendly!

In short, our holidays were successful! Relaxing and exotic!

For next year, I note your proposal and thank you. But unfortunately, our business schedule does not leave us (yet) the possibility of planning our holidays 1 year in advance. But know that we will not fail to check your site for our next vacation!

Thank you again for your concern and congratulations for your beautiful homes!

Regards,

Stephanie V.

(08-2017) Dear Lydia and Thijs,

We found it very nice to rent a house with you. We found you involved and flexible. The house was really very attractive and beautiful. Everything present . Also the house managers Ruth and Neil were sympathetic, timely and helpful. For us both your organization and the house are highly recommended! Top.

Sincerely,

Pim and Ingrid

(09-2016) Dear Thijs, Lydia and Marieke

Through this way I want to thank you for the super tip of the house. We had a super trip and the house was perfect! We have also been very well received by Neil.

Cordial greetings,

Lucia

(07-2016) Hi Lydia,

We had a nice holiday. The area is beautiful and the house with pool highly recommended. Neil and Ruth are very nice and helpful. There was nothing missing in the house (except for a cheese slicer for the Dutch hahaha), nice that there was a freezer because you really have to go to Cahors for the big groceries and so you want something more. Perfect.

Of course we did take pictures, but we were not neutral. So unfortunately I can not help further. But the photos that we received earlier from you really cover the load. I would mention on the website that there is still a separate kitchen and actually a second entrance, some families / companies find this ideal if you want more privacy. We liked it in any case.

We had a great time at Villa St. Cirq, we want to rent something just next year, but then in Spain or Portugal, somewhere by the sea. If you mediate in this, we would like to hear that.

Thanks and warm regards,

Fam. V.

(08-2015) Dear Mennes family,

We had a fantastic holiday in the house. The house and pool where perfect for us and we could really relax and wind down. It was very, very hot but we managed to keep the house relatively cool inside (at least downstairs), opening the windows at night and early mornings and keeping absolutely everything closed during daytime. Due to the incredible heat we didn´t even try out the barbecue but did some cooking in the well equipped kitchen.

I attach some fotos we took of the house.

Many thanks for this great holiday, we are certainly interested in doing s.th. similar again in the future.

Kind regards

Birgit & family
